Welcome back everybody to the Pursuit of Purpose podcast. I'm Melissa Vera, and I am so excited to have you guys on listening to today's episode. Today's gonna be so special and so fun because we have a guest episode. It's not just me for every, every episode, so I have none other than Ronn Li back on the podcast.

If you guys were here listening to the podcast way back last year, Ron came on and we had the finals conversation sitting in a closet. We have now graduated to some makeshift. Chair set up and it's just gonna be just as awesome. So if you guys don't know Ron, Ron is. Many, many things, but World Traveler Digital Number for seven years, seven, eight years.

The writer with two incredible books out. May had heard of them before. One is no idea what I'm doing. Book Fuck. And his newest book titled 20 something, which are some of the top sellers in poetry. And 20 something is doing awesome on Amazon. So if you have not checked it out, go check it out. And last but not least.

He's my roommate and a really good friend. So welcome back man. Can't believe it's been a year. That's a sick intro. Hey guys. Hey man. Thanks. Your intro. Happy to be back. Yeah. And as we always end up doing this, right when you're about to piece off to leave to the next, the next place. That's we, that's what happened last year too.

Yeah. We're like, oh, I gotta get it in. So, well, I'm glad that we can finally take the time to do it and I mean, you're off to, well, you don't even know where yet next. So like your whole life. Always. I've known a few days. It's hard to plan until last minute when you have to go and that's when the panic kicks in.

That's like the a DH ADHD method of wait till all shit hits the fan and then you gotta choose. Or I'm just having too much fun. Yeah, that too procrastinating In the meantime. Yes. Tell everyone what you've been up to in Canmore for the last couple months. Yeah, so I've been here since what, mid-January?

Yeah. I was in Calgary for a little bit and then I moved here late Jan. Now it's mid-April, so I've been here for about three months. I've mostly been up to two things, skiing and riding. So, my book 20 something came out in October. And the, the previous months have just mostly been about trying to promote it, trying to learn more about a business side of things, you know, because writing's very different from, from selling, from publishing, from marketing.

So there's a lot I have to learn That's, mostly been putting in the time, trying to experiment, trying to see what works. We're trying to do more of what works, trying to be disciplined short for work. And then living by the mountains, it's really hard to be working at a time, you know, I'm sure you have all people know how that feels.

So I've been skiing a lot. This is my second season skiing. And I'm really happy with the progress I've made. He's good. He can do black diamonds. Yay. Yeah. So, yeah, just me enjoying that. And now I have about a week left before I have to leave, so it's kind of like I'm at the end of my, I guess, finer my time in Kenmore.

So I gotta figure out what's next. I don't really know yet. I'm gonna take the weekend to probably think about research, everything, and I just gotta make a decision, pick a place, and go. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I mean, for people who don't live that kind of lifestyle, which I think is a lot of people, like it's a good thing and a really exciting thing, but also a really tiring thing.

Like what do you, I guess, at this point in your life, do you like resent those like periods of time where you have to then think of, okay, what do I want to be, where do I wanna be next? Like, how is that. Changed, I guess maybe from exciting to, I don't know, whatever it is now for you. So, I think being depleted is definitely like a real thing while living discount lifestyle because, uh, I think it's also dependent on how often you move.

So I think I've been moving on average about once a month for the last year or two. So, so it's a lot. Mm-hmm. Right. And, and every month I kind of have to decide where to go next. It's not so much on. The moving once you're used to traveling, it's more of the trying to pick a good spot, trying to find good prices, trying to figure out what you can do.

Trying to like priorities. Yeah. Like look for a nice accommodation that you want to be in, especially when you're also working. So, and, and doing that last minute. So it's hard to get a good option last minute. That's, that's where most of my research time goes to. And at the beginning, you know when you can go anywhere in the world, that's you.

You have a list of places that you want to go. Everywhere is fun. Yeah. Once you do that for a while, you kinda start going to other places you want to go and now you're just kind of some, some months I feel like I'm just. Moving because I have to. And that can become really depleting, especially if I'm in a good groove.

If I find a good flow to work. But then now I have to go, I gotta worry about traveling, I gotta worry about leaving. I gotta reset my environment. So, so that is difficult. But also coming from a place where I. I for, for a long time of my life, I just wanted to leave. I just didn't wanna be at home. And now being able to, to, to, to be away and to not have to be at home, I think I have more appreciation than anything else.

So it's just kind of every time when I feel like I'm a little overwhelmed, I think about like, my alternative is I'm just back home and, you know, I'm happy. Yeah. It's privilege. Right? So, so yeah. I see it as a privilege and I really don't mind dealing with it. Yeah. It's just part of the process. I don't know if I've asked you this.

I mean like, I know we've talked a lot about just transitioning of like that timeline that you stay somewhere going longer and longer, but do you feel like that there you can see on the horizon a point at which you want to just pick somewhere for a extended period of time where you don't know what the end of it is, or do you still think no, I'm still gonna be like bopping around and I don't know when that's gonna stop?

Uh, I don't really have a preference. I'm just more, I'm, I'm open to whatever opportunities come along. Yeah. So, for the most part of my traveling visa is always a problem, you know, because, i'm, I'm not, I don't have a job here. I'm not in school, so it's, it's really hard to get an extended stay. Mm-hmm.

There's probably ways around it, but you know, it's effort. Right. It's probably easier for me to just go buy a plane ticket and go somewhere else than to figure out a whole process. Catch me if you can. Application. What's that? I said catch me if you can. Yeah. Right. So, yeah, so that's a long process. So I, I, I like to take the easier way out, the easier way out to just pick a different place.

You know, there's so many places in the world Yeah. That I haven't seen. So it's really, it's a privilege, right? It's, it's not a tough problem to, to just pick a spot and, and go. So to answer your question, I like the idea of staying somewhere for an extended amount of time. I think at the beginning I wasn't, so, I wasn't such a big fan of it because I wanted to get more exposure.
